One Year Later…

Okay, so more than a year later… I’ve decided to write in my blog again and try to write more helpful posts. I stopped checking the progress of my blog for about 6 months until I realized that one of my posts is actually getting some decent hits. People are always looking for help or knowledge on the Internet and for me it’s my number one reason to be on the Internet.
I recently bought a Mac Mini with OS X Snow Leopard Server. At just under $1k, I couldn’t resist. The unlimited license alone is $499 and I get a very well spec’ed mini. I love every aspect of the idea of putting a server on a mini and it’s great to see Apple making their enterprise line more attainable by small businesses.
Over the course of setting up OS X Server, I realized that there isn’t much support vs. Windows Server/Unix/Linux. Finding an answer on google for questions specifically related to OS X server proved difficult. With so many different possibilities for configurations there are too many conditions for there to be one answer. The Apple support forums for OS X Server are rather quiet and a lot of questions go unanswered.
I’ve figured out a lot in the past month and eventually want to share this knowledge. I know that Apple will be reeling in a lot of new people with absolutely zero server experience. People looking to dive into server administration will definitely look to Apple’s Mac Mini. It’s the perfect way to understand concepts quickly without having to dive into terminal or command line.
So… stay tuned for upcoming tips and how-tos!
